Sunday was an important day for charity running events, as the Race Director Ian Allerton described it as, “a new season of safe running events in 2021”.
Thousands of runners attended the first mass 10k in London since the lockdown restrictions were lifted. The rather cloudy weather with some heavy rain fading for a time did not stop our runners pounding the streets of central London.
Our charity runners were amongst the 14,000 other runners who took part in this event, as they raced past London’s most iconic landmarks such as Big Ben, London Eye and Trafalgar square.
The fundraising generated from our runners will allow us to continue with the work we do and grant even more magical wishes for children with life-threatening and terminal illnesses.
A wish child’s parent explains, “When you have a disabled child the costs of anything are so high. You always think there are things you’d dearly like to give him, but finding the funds to do that when you also need to fund other necessary things, it’s such a juggling act.”
Our handcrafted wishes are tailored to the child’s desire, as well as their medical needs and has a powerful impact on their mental health and wellbeing. Being able to deliver these wishes lifts the spirits of the entire family and alleviates some of their stress by providing a special treat and positive distraction.
Thank you again to our charity runners, we are full of gratitude for your generosity in helping to create these wonderful wishes.
